On November 9, 2023, the Regulation of the Minister of Climate and Environment, dated November 8, 2023, on the reference price of electricity from renewable energy sources, the periods applicable to generators who won the auctions, and the reference volumes of electricity sales, was published.
According to the provisions of the Law on Renewable Energy Sources, the reference price is the maximum price per 1 MWh (in PLN) for which electricity from renewable energy sources can be sold by generators under the auction support system. It serves as a reference point (upper limit) for RES electricity generators – participants of the auction, for the preparation of the final bid in terms of price level. In addition, the reference price is used for the overall assessment of the profitability of the participation of a given RES installation in the support system, compared with the possible market prices for electricity in a specified period.
The regulation specifies reference prices for 31 categories of renewable energy source installations, in accordance with
a statutory catalog dividing them based on the type of generation technology and the capacity of the RES installation, including, among others still the most popular categories:
- installations up to 1 MW, using only solar energy – PLN 414 per MWh;
- installations above 1 MW, using only solar energy – PLN 389 per MWh;
- installations above 1 MW, using only onshore wind energy – PLN 324 per MWh.
